As a testament of the love for children, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on December 3, 2008, announced the establishment of a dedicated Children Hospital that will have the highest International Standards and should be affiliated with the University Hospital Academic and Research Center and the Dubai Health Authority. The hospital will be named Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, in honor of his daughter, Her Highness Sheikha Jalila who was then celebrating her first birthday. |
The Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital is the first Children’s Hospital in the country. Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital is a state of the art 200 Bed Hospital that shall provide tertiary and quaternary specialized pediatric health services primarily to the residents of Dubai, in addition to the residents of Northern Emirates as well as those residents of locales of Gulf countries that are found near the borders of UAE, which made them nearer and more accessible to Dubai than to the capital of their respective countries. Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital is a Child Friendly and Family Oriented Hospital that comprises of four centers of excellence namely the Heart Center, Cancer Center, Mental Health and Neurology Center with a fully equipped 8 operating Rooms and dedicated Peadiatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Coronary Intensive Care Unit, Nephrology Unit, Kidney Dialysis, Rehabilitation Unit, Physiotherapy Unit, Adolescent Unit, Imaging and Radiology Department, Nuclear Medicine, Clinical Laboratories, Outpatient Department and Emergency Department. The Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital is a teaching and research hospital. There is a dedicated Auditorium to accommodate 375 participants with several education and training rooms near the auditorium and around the hospital. |
